I dont get whats happening. I dont think that guy was threatening the cop with a weapon, because the policeman had his gun drawn, but didnt immediately open fire.
I had always assumed it was to keep the officer away from the traffic and that made me think of how dangerous a traffic stop is ... now knowing that there is another reason and the other danger that protects you from ... shudder.

I would imagine approaching on the passenger side saved this officer from being shot. It seemed to me he handled himself extremely well.

I concur. I do wish people would learn there is no such thing as a "routine" traffic stop.

The police officer was giving him every opportunity to out the gun down. He chose differently
