I realize that as a cop you don't have time/energy to figure out the why of something like this, but as a layperson I find it utterly incomprehensible why anyone would do such a thing.
I suppose drugs or alcohol fuel a lot of these stupid decisions, but I have to wonder how many people decide to go out like this because they want to die but lack the courage to do it themselves? So, in the process they destroy lives..and not just their own.
I live in the UK and if that were to happen here there would be a very thorough enquiry. People would lose their jobs and reputions would be trashed. As an outsider I find the video truly shocking. I'm not saying what is is right or wrong, I'm just saying that we see things very differently over here..Gun crime is relatively rare here and maybe we don't witness as much of as you do. I commend your bravery but hope that we never have to resort to that reaction.
